Does anyone remember the Rainford family who lived
at 11 Victoria Terrace, Nantlle, in the 1960's, and
possibly earlier?
I am trying to find more
information about my father's cousin Jennie (Jane)
Rainford nee
Jones, who died in
1966 at 11 Victoria Terrace. Her husband was Joe
(Joseph Henry) Rainford, who died in 1968 in St.David's
Hospital,
Bangor, his home address being given as 11 Victoria
Terrace, he was a retired hotel barman, possibly
in Maentwrog.
They had a son Leslie
(Joseph Leslie) who was born 1928 in Liverpool Maternity
Hospital.
Jennie was the
daughter of Llewelyn and Laura Jones (nee Jones),
and was born Ysgubor, above Nantlle village,
in her grandparents home. Llewelyn and Laura had
a son , Llewelyn Wynne Jones,born 30 October 1890,
Penorsedd
Terrace; sadly Laura died less than two weeks later.
In the 1891 census this child is living 25 Nantlle
Terrace, boarding, and in 1901 is the adopted son
of Hugh and Dorothy Jones, 12 Victoria Terrace.
Laura,
her daughter Jennie and son in law, Joe are buried
Macpeleh Cemetery, Penygroes. Their grave being
next to that of Laura's parents, Owen and Jane Jones
of Ysgubor and Ty Nant Uchaf, Nantlle.
